One of the Lawrence Civic Choir’s most successful fund raising projects has been selling grocery gift certificates/cards to be redeemed at local grocery stores. Choir supporters buy gift certificates from the choir that are worth exactly what they cost, and the grocery store contributes a percentage of the sales to the Lawrence Civic Choir.

Current grocers participating in the program are:

• Checkers gift certificates come in $10 increments and are just like cash. The choir earns 6%.
• The Community Mercantile gift cards come in increments of $50 and $100 and are just like cash. (If requested, we’re happy to get cards in other amounts, such as $10 or $25, around the holidays.) The cards are used until the value is spent. A service charge of $2.50 a month is assessed after 12 month of non-use. The choir earns 6%.
• Dillon’s gift cards come in increments of $50 and $100 and are just like cash. (If requested, we’re happy to get cards in other amounts, such as $10 or $25, around the holidays.) They can be used for anything sold by Dillon’s, Baker’s, Gerbes, Kroger, Fred Meyer, and a variety of additional stores for groceries, medical prescriptions, and gasoline. You can even use the gift cards to purchase the gift cards sold in the store, including Applebee’s, JC Penney’s, Amazon, Tracfone, and Visa cards. The choir earns 6%.
• HyVee gift cards come in $50 and $100 increments and and are just like cash. (If requested, we’re happy to get cards in other amounts, such as $10 or $25, around the holidays.) The cards are used until the value is spent. You can even use the gift cards to purchase the gift cards sold in the store, including Applebee’s, JC Penney’s, Amazon, Tracfone, and Visa cards. A service charge of $2 per month is assessed if there is any period of six consecutive months of non-use after the first use. The choir earns 5%.
