Phoenix of the Plains, composed by Geoffrey Wilcken to commemorate Lawrence’s sesquicentennial. The Lawrence Civic Choir performed the world premiere of the three movement work on April 30, 2005, at Free State High School, Lawrence, Kansas.

Geoff Wilcken’s arrangement of the Kansas state song as performed by the Lawrence Civic Choir at To the stars: our Kansas choral heritage on April 28, 2001. The choir subsequently has performed this piece on numerous occasions including a special October 2001 mid-season concert at Corpus Christi Church, an impromptu “concert” at Mount Vernon during the choir’s fall 2001 National Cathedral trip, and a summer 2002 mini-concert at the Lawrence Relay For Life event.
